But it wasn't all about stuffing our faces, we went to some great bars (and 'sampled' the infamous & highly dangerous snake wine) and saw some really good live bands, not to mention watching more Olympics, playing pool & ping-pong, admiring the views from The Bund, checking out the dirty, crumbling Old Town with its weird & wonderful food markets, taking in an Olympic exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (yawn-ish), trying not to laugh out loud at an acrobatic show (they needed a bit more practise) & generally staring up in awe of yet another colossal, sky-scraping Chinese city. Next stop Yangshuo...

SHANGHAI DAZE
Another long, overnight sleeper train and we found ourselves in the very westernised city of Shanghai and the Le Tour Travelers (sic) Rest hostel, at which we were planning to stay only 3 nights. However, the sheer pleasure of great English breakfasts, burgers & fries, wraps, baguettes, pasta dishes, tasty milkshakes & Haagen Daaz kept us there for a further 7 nights and gained us several extra pounds in weight... each!
