This particular trip from Chile was 4 days & 3 nights and we travelled with a group of 4 people from Ireland - John, Vivien, Ann & Fiona. We took all of the warm clothes we had with us and wore them non-stop day and night until we returned to San Pedro De Atacama. It was the coldest we've ever been, the first night at 5000m being -18 degrees... but it was well worth every icey, frost-bitten minute. Once again, pictures can't do the scenery justice, but we hope the pics on here will give you some idea of how beautiful, peaceful & isolated it was.
We saw a white lake, green lake and red lake, all partially frozen of course. We bathed in steaming hot natural springs, checked out some geysers, climbed all over an island covered in cacti (some over 1000 years old) and saw 3 species of flamingo. We watched the sunrise and sunset 3 times, the most spectacular sunrise being over the seemingly endless salt flats. And as you can see, like everyone else who visits, we spent some time larking about taking weird perspective photos.
Anyway, enough said, must fly to Sydney now - so check the pics!
