So... we, like many other travellers, decided to speed our way down the infamous trail on hi-tech mountain bikes! It took us just under 3 and a half hours to bike down from the freezing mountain top to the tropical rainforest below and was equally terrifying as it was exhilarating. Definitely up there as a highlight of our trip so far!

DEFYING DEATH ROAD
The North Yungas Road, stretching approximately 63km from La Paz to Coroico, is also known as 'The World's Most Dangerous Road' or 'Death Road'. These alternative names were given mainly for when it was still the only road to La Paz from the Yungas region of Bolivia (there is now a new 'safer', wider road) and there was much more traffic using it, although it still claims the odd victim . It is a narrow road that winds around the mountain, with one side being open to a sheer drop (no barriers) of up to 2000ft, and over the years many people have met their fate here.
