A quick hello from Lima. We've just uploaded loads from the comfort of our room in Loki Hostel and now we're heading up to the roof bar to join the party. We planned to head out of Lima tomorrow but ended up going to see the amazing Iron Man at the cinema instead of sorting out our bus tickets... so, we have another 24 hours in the city and then on to Huacachina to try some sand boarding! Probably won't be updating again until we reach Cuzco from May 9th but we reckon there's more than enough to look at for now. Hope you're enjoying it (where's the comments people?!) - til the next one, adios amigos! XX

24HRS OF LUXURY
We arrived in the capital at 7am after another long overnight bus journey. We headed straight for the 5 star Sheraton Hotel in the Centro Historico area of the city. After 9 weeks of travelling and hosteling we had decided to treat ourselves to a bit of luxury and comfort before we flew out to Peru. We spent most of the time in the hotel, making the most of the facilities in our room on the 19th floor and getting ourselves ready for the next chapter of our adventure, though Ben went out to see a bit of the city for a couple of hours and made a night trip to the KFC down the road for a cheeky 1 star midnight feast!
MEXICAN WAVES
Puerto Escondido was basically a cool, laid-back surfer town... and the surf was big! Swimming wasn't really possible, so most accommodation (including The Rockaway Hotel where we stayed) had a pool. We spent 3 days mainly chilling out, catching up on sleep, but also managed to squeeze in our first surfing lesson which was amazing - especially as we both managed to get up on our boards and surf within 2 hours. We've definitely got the surf bug and can't wait to go again. Some skin art was also achieved, but we've decided to spare our long-suffering parents pics of that for now!
All in all, it was the perfect end to our epic Mexican & Central American adventure...
WHEN IN OAXACA
We originally intended to stay for a couple of nights in Oaxaca (pronounced 'Wahaka'), but after wandering around town for the afternoon (and looking at yet more churches, squares and markets in the sweltering heat) we heard the beach and sea breeze calling and promptly booked ourselves on the first bus out of town the following morning... to the surf town of Puerto Escondido, on the South Pacific coast.
Had we not just come from beautiful San Cristobal de las Casas we would've probably been more taken with Oaxaca, but it felt a little characterless in comparison. That said, we stayed in a nice hostel called MezKalito, saw some good street art, Ben finally found some long-searched for Lucha Libre wrestling masks and we had a great night out with Paul & Andy from the UK, so worth stopping by!
